y gen? z gen?
June 7th 2008 07:56
Ok, so we've all heard of the generations a-z, so let me clear things up:
Products of the y generation, such as myself, are those who were born between 1980 and 1997. That leaves Generation Z; those who missed the deadline of the stellar 80's and 90's and were born 1998 onwards.
Well, it's easy to get nostalgic remembering when we listened to West Life, *NYSNC and reverred the Mickey Mouse Club, but I'm all about modern music. Those catchy tunes and non-sensical lyrics enraptured us at the time, but thankfully the boy bands and poppy tweens have largely dissappeared (HM? I'll get to her later). Now i welcome you onto the high speed, wild ride that is the rollercoaster of modern music.
As genres branch out, confusing even the best of us, I ignore the fact that every man and his dog calls themselves 'rock' and just about everyone eagerly dismisses new bands as 'emo' when they in fact bear no comparison to emo of the 80's. As long as it's good, i'll blog it, and this is where you'll all hear first hand about the freshest and latest bands, from small bands worldwide, to the huge music channel sensations that you can't wait to hear more from. I really try to avoid pop tweens (note: Hannah Montanna, mentioned above) and their unpersonal, soppy lyrics, but we all get dragged in every now and again right?
I'll write in later with details of my latest techo/glam rock obsessions - Blaqk Audio and Cinema Bizarre.
until next time,
Happy Listening
